Located in Glen Allen in the far west end of Henrico County, CrossRidge is an active adult community located on a 400-acre site that was the former Ridge Farm. The last owners of Ridge Farm, the Cross family (hence the name CrossRidge), sold the property at the turn of the millennium to Courtney Development, Inc., a partnership of Atack Properties and Eagle Construction of Virginia. Courtney developed the CrossRidge concept, a community comprised of several villages or neighborhoods, all providing age-qualified housing under the Federal Housing For Older Persons Act (HOPA). In general, each household must have at least one resident 55 years of age or older, and no resident may be younger than 18 years of age.
Construction of the community began in 2001 and on March 12, 2002, the first home closing took place. At the end of 2013, CrossRidge was completely built out with 746 homes and nearly 1400 residents.
The community is gated with its main entrance at the intersection of Staples Mill Road and CrossRidge Glen Way. All property, including streets, within CrossRidge is privately owned by the homeowners or by one of the seven homeowner/unit owner associations operating in the community. These associations provide a low-maintenance environment for residents, including landscape maintenance, exterior home maintenance and repair, snow removal, refuse collection, and road maintenance.
The Communities
CrossRidge has six communities or neighborhoods, each with their own particular style of home:
Carriages, 76 duplex condominiums
Carriages II, 151 duplex condominiums and one single-family condominium
Cottages, 258 single-family homes
Townes, 177 townhomes
Southall, 24 condominiums in 4 two-story buildings
Edgewood, 60 townhome condominiums
All homes feature attached two-car garages, at least two baths, and main-floor living...with a master bedroom and large master bath, great room, dining room, and kitchen on one floor. In Southall, second story units feature private elevators. Most homes feature either a sunroom or screened porch as well. Various models include one, two or three additional bedrooms, a loft, a formal living room and a casual eating space.
Residency includes membership in the Pavilion Club, a 17,000-square-foot recreational facility on five acres which is the center of social activity for the community. The Pavilion features a multi-functional ballroom with a catering kitchen and beautiful views of the outdoor pool, a games room with a charming gas fireplace, a billiards room with professional-quality equipment, an indoor heated pool and jetted spa, a well-appointed fitness center, an outdoor splash pool and pleasant pool deck, and tennis/pickleball courts.
CrossRidge maintains a full staff and On-Site Manager to manage and maintain the Pavilion facility, to coordinate service requests for covered exterior maintenance, and to plan and execute the many social and lifestyle events hosted for CrossRidge residents. Dozens of active clubs and groups keep CrossRidge busy. Whether it's Newsgroup or Pickleball, Women's Club or the Billiards Teams, the Pavilion hosts a number of social, educational, arts, travel, and fitness programs for our residents. In a typical month, there are more than 100 such events taking place at the Pavilion.
Likened to "a cruise ship that never leaves port," CrossRidge is a unique combination of independent active lifestyle, close-knit and caring friendships, ample opportunity for involvement and philanthropy, focus on a fit lifestyle, and a fun atmosphere.
No one does "Community" like CrossRidge.
